Welcome to my workshop of the old ships! Imagining life on these ancient ships opens our eyes to a world of hardship, strife and the ambiguity of tomorrow. Saint Blaise and seamanship was their only safe haven. These worldly seafarers brought Dubrovnik prevailing material and spiritual values while being envoys to each and every corner of the Mediterranean and even farther across the Atlantic.
The name Argosy has for centuries been known to the western world as a Dubrovnik merchant ship (usually a caracca or galleon) stowed with great treasures and valuable goods, mostly from the East. These exquisite miniature and unique ships are Mr Mitić's hommage to all those known and unknown seafarers and the saying: "to navigate is a necessity" sculptured the lives of Dubrovnik citizens for many centuries. A seaman by vocation, Mladen Mitić inadvertently but unequivocally enhances this deeply rooted tradition in his work. Transcend to "joyous sailing" and experience the beauty and perfection of his models.
